Volunteer Requirements / Checklist

We welcome all nationalities to join our volunteer team although there are a few requirements that we ask of you:

First Steps...

  Make yourself aware and agree to our rules and regulations
  Checked to see if a volunteering place is Avialable on the volunteer calendar
  Can you give the minimum duration of 1 month?
  Submit Volunteer Application
  Received confirmation from Educators Trust of place available

After confirmation, the requirements....

  Provide Volunteer Fee / Donation to start application process
  Apply / Send in a recent clear police check (recommend : apply 6 months before travel)
  Valid Passport for a minimum of 180 days with at least two blank pages.
  APPLY FOR EMPLOYENT VISA (recommend : apply 2 months before travel) - Visa is valid from date of processing not date of travel.

Other important items to remember

  Vacinations, please check with your local GP for their current recommendations for visiting India. (for example, protection for TB, Polio, Tetanus, Diphtheria, Hepatitis A and B, Typhoid)
  International Driving licence if you would like to drive a scooter or car in India (available from RAC or AA)
  Spending Money - Cash, travellers cheques or plastic. to give you an idea of how much it costs, please check out the Goa price lists
  Prescription Medication. Please inform Educators Trust of any medical issues that might occur durnig your time in India.
  Emergancy contact details
  Travel Insurance for the duration of your stay. Free insurance from banks etc does not normally cover you for volunteering/long term stays outside europe.

Items for season time (October through to May)

  Lightweight clothing
  Suitable sun protection (cream, hat etc)
  Sunglasses

Items for the monsoon (May through to October)

  Breathable lightweight waterproof coat. If you plan to ride a bike water proof trousers are also recommended
  Suitable footwear (easy to dry)
  Quick drying clothing
