Welcome

Welcome to our latest newsletter. The rainy season in Goa should soon be coming to an end and I am sure many of you have made your plans to come over this year. The Children love it when visitors come to see them and you are all more then welcome.

Most Wanted

Shoes DonationsWe are always in need of Children's clothes and shoes. While we appreciate all Children's clothing please remember that warmer clothes are in great demand as the night time temperatures can drop dramatically. Also please bear in mind that the Children wearing the clothes are generally quite small for their age, so clothes for age 12 and under are the most useful.

Nit lotion and combs are extremely useful. We have found the most effective lotion to be Hedrin and that the metal combs are better than the plastic ones.

If you require excess baggage, please contact your airline to check out their requirements for bringing items for a charitable organisation. If you need a confirmation letter or something similar the UK office can help-just email us
at the UK Office

We are in the process of bidding for funding to help develop the work we are already doing, but we could really do with some extra help.. Is there anyone out there who can help us identify and apply for appropriate funding? If you think you might be able to help, then please email us at the UK Office and let us know what you can offer

How you can help

Neet With A Child With Broken LegOur new volunteer scheme is now in place. Any supporters who pay a regular monthly donation of £15.00 or more are now given the opportunity to get more involved with the work we do through this scheme. For those of you who want to learn more please contact Friends of Educators Trust India at the UK Office and they will guide you through the process. You will be required to produce a recent CRB - if you don't have one we can help you apply for one.

Two of our volunteers have been working in the schools during the last couple of months. Marianne and Charlotte from Denmark are in Goa until January and are having fun working with the Children. We don't see many visitors during the rainy season, so the Children were so excited when they turned up. This is what Marianne and Charlotte had to say :

"The Children are absolutely wonderful, and so grateful. We are having the best time ever. We are looking forward to seeing the sun a bit more, getting pretty tired of all the rain"

Our thanks go out to both Marianne and Charlotte for all their hard work.

All Purpose Vehicle

Vehicle DonationWe are looking at buying the mini bus this season but still have some way to go before we have the funds in place. The bus would make such a difference to the lives of the all the children, though it would mainly be used in Morning Light, our outreach project, where we provide medical assistance, food and clothing to the Children living in the slums, the bus will be fitted with a water purifier which will provide the families with fresh drinking water. Without this facility the families are forced to drink filthy contaminated water which is the biggest cause of illness, often fatal, especially in the young and the very old.

If you would like to make a donation specifically to this cause please contact the UK Office and they will be happy to assist. Or visit our web-site to find out more.

Hillsborough Pumas Football Team

Football Team Sponsorship One of our supporters has kindly sponsored their local
junior football team on our behalf. The Hillsborough Pumas under 7s team plays in Sheffield's junior league. The children proudly wore their new kit bearing our logo when they played their first match on 4th September. A lot of the parents showed an interest in Educators' Trust India and the work we do. Fundraising Activities

Hazel's 64th Birthday

Here are just a few examples of how funds have been raised. Hazel had been collecting items all year and encouraged her birthday guests to take part in a tombola, raising an amazing £300.01 Thank you Clive for the penny - every little helps especially when it is accompanied with a £10.00 note. As well as the tombola, guests enjoyed a hog roast and bbq, and great music from the group Mustard.

A big thank you goes to Hannah and Robyn who helped run the tombola .
