Charity Fundraising
Do you think you want to do more than just donate? perhaps you would like to do a sponsored bike ride or hold a charity sale / car boot. Whatever you had in mind we have Just Giving which will help you raise and keep track of the money donated. It also sorts out Gift Aid too!
How to put on a fundraising event
Decide What to do
There are lots of ways to raise funds, but the easiest is to find something you enjoy, and what others will enjoy and put an event on, food and drink is always good. Perhaps an Indian evening, speak to your local Indian restaurant and fix a good deal on food, invite a few friends who love Indian food, a few bottles of wine! Charge a small percentage for tickets Hey presto! Even if the profit is just a few pounds per head, it soon adds up, the best thing is it's a great night too!
For those with a bit more energy, you can always do a sponsored walk, run, swim. Or even jump out of an airoplane. (Please know that we do not make agreements with fundraising companies for part or full payment of parachute jumps etc).
Set up a Just Giving Page
Just giving allows you to easily create an interactive fudraising page where you can direct your friends and family to donate their sponsorship. Please be aware that any money coming through the Just Giving page is for charity use and can not be used for any other purpose (so, if you are having an Indian evening for example), please make sure you already have enough to cover food/drinks/venue etc as we can't refund any money.
Spread the Word
Letting people know about your event is vital so you can have the greatest amount of support. Telling friends and family, collegues at work, facebook also is a great way to let people know. If you send us an email with details we can also mention it in our newsletters or on the Charity Facebook page to get more interest.
Write a Press Release
The local press are always interested to hear about local people doing extraordinary things for street children. Get in touch with your local paper and remember to include Who, What, Why, When and of course Where! If possible do please try to get them to include the charity website in any material www.EducatorsTrustIndia.org
Finally, the big day...
Hopefully after all your hard work planning and advertising the event, everything will run smoothly and it will be a great success. Do let us know about how it went and if possible send us a few photos so we can add it to our news letter.

Many of you will be familiar with Nicks Place and all they do for us. Situated in Saltaire Nr Shipley, West Yorkshire, the restaurant will be launching their new menu in March 2012, by making a donation to Educators' Trust India from certain dishes form the menu they will be both promoting and supporting the work we do. So if you are in the local area, or even if you live further afield and fancy a trip to this beautiful part of the country, perhaps in the search of good food and wine, then why not give them a visit. Samantha
After meeting one of our volunteers fundraising at Anjuna Market Samantha decided that she wanted to do something to help when she returned to England. Within days of returning home she had encouraged her children Dylan and Carys to have a stall at their school fair to raise some funds. After a mammoth cake bake and the setting up of a fabulous display they made an impressive £70.00 which they kindly donated to the 2012 waterpark excursion
Louise
Christmas just wouldn’t be Christmas without a party and there wouldn’t be a party without the donations from certain individuals, Louise makes a special effort each year to make sure the children have a Christmas to remember; in November 2011 she donated a very generous £100.00 to help cover the cost of the presents and food.
Jim and Moe
During the holiday season the children are gathered together at Leading Light to enjoy a weekly trip to the beach. This is only made possible by the generous donation form a much loved couple from Cornwall, Jim and Moe send us enough money each year to cover the cost of the bus to transport the children and the equipment to the beach and back every Friday throughout the season. They raise these funds, and more by letting out their caravan situated at their home near Penzance. The rates are extremely reasonable and every penny is donated to Educators Trust India. For more information about booking the caravan please contact the UK office and we will be happy to pass on your details.
Rebecca Watson
Returning to Wakefield from her family holiday in December 2010 Rebecca took it upon herself to do something special for the children of Educators' Trust India, she had hatched a plan to buy all the children at Leading Light and New Light schools a Christmas present each, and then to deliver them personally when she returned a year later. She discussed her idea with Sue at the UK office, who was slightly gob smacked, "I have had people want to donate towards the children's Christmas presents and party before but this was one step up from that, personally I dread Christmas shopping, so for someone to want to do this for the children left me feeling quite bemused. Rebecca was good to her word and arrived in Goa with the presents all wrapped and ready to hand out, there were in fact enough for each child from all three schools and some left over to take into the slums, she also brought along two brand new scooters, one each for New Light and Leading Light, and a selection of second hand clothes to hand out amongst the children living in the slums. Rebecca and her nine year old daughter Havanna visited the schools and the children in the slums. We were also pleased that they were able to join us on our visit to the water park. Rebecca also got her daughters school, East Ardsley Primary raising funds; instead of bringing in the usual food items during their Harvest Festival the children had a collection on our behalf making an incredible £70.
